Today’s Special: The Invention of Living

In two short weeks, we will be showcasing some of our creations and favorite finds at a trade show in New Braunfels, Texas.  Planning and organizing for this event has been loads of fun. We’ve been reading up on trade shows and finding ways to make our display attractive and unique.  We decided to create an A-frame sidewalk sign—just like the ones we stare down, tummies grumbling, deciding on lunch.  We designed it in our minds and made mental modifications– but because we are not licensed, professional sidewalk sign makers, we seemed to come across some complications almost every time.  Our answer came last month when Ingrid scored a Playskool easel at a yard sale for $5.00!  After a thorough clean up, we spray painted the entire piece in Valspar’s tropical foliage. Our initial plan was to screw the sheets of metal to the plastic, but reverting to our lack of training in sidewalk sign making, we decided on industrial strength Velcro instead—(hmmmm…wonder what else we can “fix” with industrial strength Velcro?!) We added our spray painted magnetic letters and– ta-dah! We love the end result and can’t wait to display it!
